In October of 1976, Bain Manufacturing Company began to enter the soft plastic injection molding business. Before this time Bain Manufacturing Company primarily produced jigs and spinner baits where as all assembly was by hand. In 1976 Dewey L. Bain, owner of Bain Manufacturing Company, acquired two patents on a ringed soft plastic fishing worm; therefore, allowing Bain to enter the soft plastic injection molding business to manufacture and produce his own product. Marketing of Bain's ringed product-the Ringworm-was done by Rebel Lure Co., in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and manufacturing was done by Bain Manufacturing Co. Over the years, Bain discontinued the manufacture of any products that required hand assembly because of the demand for a product of higher quality, but still competitively priced for the national and international markets. Bain believed soft plastic items produced by machines in high volume at a lower per unit cost eliminated hand assembly, which allowed Bain to be more competitive in the market place where price is essential. In 1980, recognizing the need for greater marketing ability of its products, Bain decided to manufacture exclusively for other manufacturers because of their strong marketing arms in the national and international marketplace and also because of their strong financial ability giving Bain the needed cash flow to operate a sound financial business. From 1981 to the present, Bain Manufacturing Company Incorporated has continued to grow steadily. The company has also entered other markets allowing it the opportunity to manufacture not only for the soft plastic Fishing Lure Industry, but also for the Novelty Industry, the Safety Industry, and the Medical Industry for educational purposes. Selling to manufacturers proved to have been a wise decision because it provided the necessary growth in sales that was badly needed and also provided the adequate cash flow which is essential for any business to operate soundly.
